The Incrocio Manzoni 2.3 grape variety is one of the clones obtained by crossing Trebbiano and Traminer Aromatico, designed and experimented by Professor Luigi Manzoni, who was the principal of the Conegliano School of Enology at the time. These experiments were conducted in the 1930s on the genetic improvement of vines through crossbreeding and hybridization. Incrocio Manzoni 1.50, also known as “Manzoni Rosa,” has pink berries, while Incrocio Manzoni 2.3 has white berries. Vinification of the Incrocio Manzoni 2.3 grapes produces a straw-yellow wine with greenish reflections. On the nose, it is fruity with citrus notes of pink grapefruit and floral and spicy hints. On the palate, it is fresh and savory, with good body and herbaceous and spicy retro-olfactory notes.
