The Enantio grape variety, as widely known, is cataloged in the National Register of Grape Varieties (Updated April 2011) as “Lambrusco a foglia frastagliata“. This grape is cultivated in the Lower Vallagarina. It is found in the countryside between Ceraino and Ala and is the base variety for the production of Valdadige Rosso DOC. The need to introduce the synonym Enantio for this grape variety was considered important for a policy of relaunching the variety, which is indeed very present throughout the area: until a few years ago, Enantio was the most widespread grape variety in the valley floor of the lower Vallagarina. Today, however, the economic importance of the grape variety is less significant: production has dropped from over 120,000 quintals, which remained stable for decades, to the current 6,000, with a trend towards further decrease. For all varietal and enological characteristics, see the sheet for the “Lambrusco a foglia frastagliata” grape variety.
