Prëmetta is an indigenous grape variety from the Aosta Valley, with pink-skinned berries, also known by the name Prié Rouge. It is believed to have originated from a mutation of Prié Blanc. Currently, after facing the risk of extinction, this grape variety occupies a relatively small cultivation area, extending from Aosta to Avise, with a relative concentration in the old vineyards of Aymavilles. The acidity of Prëmetta makes it suitable for the production of sparkling wines, while in still wines, its rather exuberant tannin suggests a short aging period before consumption.
