The Albanello Wine Grape in Italy

Albanello is a rather rare grape variety that has never achieved significant distribution beyond its area of origin, the area around the cities of Siracusa, Ragusa, Noto, and Avola. There is no evidence of its presence in other areas of Sicily, let alone in other Italian regions.

The varietal wine made from Albanello grapes is straw yellow with golden highlights, has intense fruity and slightly almond notes, and shows a good aging potential. It is included in the blend for Eloro bianco DOC, and was (or rather, has been) also used for the production of passito wines.
